BeatBearing
Here's one from the home team...with over a million (!) hits on YouTube so far, Pete Bennett's 'BeatBearing' ballbearing based physical sequencer seems to have caught the public interest. (Go Pete!) Metal ballbearings are placed into holes cut in a perspex grid, using resistive sensors to detect them, with a CRT or LCD screen behind to provide visual feedback. Pete is a PhD student at the Sonic Art Research Centre in Belfast and he plans to publish a How-To guide to creating your own BeatBearing in MAKE magazine!
